Thecuy.com – PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero), also referred to as BKI, was founded as a government-owned enterprise on 1 July 1964 and later transformed into a limited liability company in 1977. It serves as Asia’s fourth ship classification body after Japan, China, and Korea, and remains the sole Indonesian classification entity authorized to evaluate the seaworthiness of both Indonesian-flagged commercial vessels and foreign ships navigating the Nusantara waters. The evaluation covers hull construction, propulsion systems, and vessel electrical installations to determine operational safety at sea.

BKI has continued to grow throughout the years. In 2021, it was entrusted to lead a state-owned holding comprised of survey service firms Sucofindo and Surveyor Indonesia, launching the new brand IDSurvey towards year‑end. 1. Ship Hull Engineer 

Task and Responsibility 

1. Examine and sanction hull construction plans, associated gear, mooring systems, and weld details to ensure compliance with BKI Klass Regulations and statutory requirements for new builds, existing vessels, and vessel modifications.
2. Support clients by offering feedback throughout the design and building stages, ensuring hull construction meets BKI guidelines and relevant international conventions.
3. Assist in addressing design‑related issues as they arise.

Minimum Qualification 

1. At least a bachelor’s degree (S1) or diploma (D4) in Naval Engineering or a related engineering field.
2. Prefer candidates with prior experience in ship hull design, shipyard construction, or classification design validation.
3. Ability:
   • Deep expertise in ship hull construction, structural strength analysis, fatigue analysis of ship structures, and material characteristics.
   • Sound comprehension of classification rules from bodies such as BKI, BV, RINA, ABS, DNV, as well as key international regulatory frameworks including SOLAS, MARPOL, CSR, IACS URS, and IMO Codes.
   • Skilled in specialized ship structural analysis tools like ANSYS AQWA, DNV SESAM, FEMAP, MAESTRO, NAPA, and general CAD applications.
   • Familiar with Finite Element Analysis techniques.
   • Knowledge of welding specifications, shipyard procedures, and methods for fabricating ship structures.
4. Language:
   • Fluent Indonesian language.
   • Good English language skills.

2. Machine Engineer 

Task and Responsibility 

1. Confirm completeness of drawings and documents against the Drawing Requirement List prior to commencing inspections.
2. Conduct technical reviews and approve machinery system drawings and ship machinery component designs in accordance with BKI Technical Regulations, convention requirements, and additional flag‑state regulations for new builds, operational vessels, and modifications.
3. Provide input and technical consultation to clients during design, construction, and modification phases.
4. Offer technical assistance to resolve design‑related issues and drawing approval processes.
5. Coordinate with relevant internal units and external parties to ensure smooth inspection and approval workflows.

Minimum Qualification

1. Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (S1) or diploma (D4) in Ship System Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
2. Experience: Preferably having work experience in ship machinery system design, shipyard construction, ship machinery component manufacturing, or other relevant fields.
3. Ability:
   • Good understanding of ship machinery systems, ship piping systems, machinery components, and basic quality management principles.
   • Capable of reading, interpreting, and evaluating technical drawings, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and other engineering documents.
   • Engineering judgment for assessing design conformity against classification requirements and applicable regulations.
   • Understanding of BKI and IACS Member technical regulations and international conventions such as SOLAS, MARPOL, IMO Codes, and IACS Publications.
   • Proficient in engineering design software like AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
   • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
   • Preferred to hold ISO 9001:2015 training or internal auditor certification and be familiar with the Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2015.
4. Language:
   • Fluent Indonesian language.
   • Good English language skills.

3. Offshore Floating Building Engineer 

Task and Responsibility 

1. Review and approve construction drawings for Offshore Floating Buildings (e.g., FPSO, FSO, FPU), associated equipment, and mooring systems in compliance with classification rules and relevant regulations for new constructions, existing units, and modifications/conversions.
2. Assist clients by providing feedback during the design and construction phases, ensuring that offshore floating structures meet the applicable BKI Rules and international conventions.
3. Offer support for resolving any design‑related issues that may arise.

Minimum Qualification 

1. Education: At least a bachelor’s degree (S1) or diploma (D4) in Marine Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
2. Experience: Prefer candidates with experience in the design, construction of Offshore Floating Buildings, or classification design validation.
3. Ability:
   • Deep knowledge of Offshore Floating Buildings, strength analysis, and material properties.
   • Comprehensive understanding of mooring systems, strength analysis, and fatigue analysis.
   • Familiarity with classification body rules (e.g., BKI, BV, RINA, ABS, DNV) and international regulations specific to Offshore Floating Buildings.
   • Proficient in ship structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS AQWA, DNV SESAM, MOSES, ORCAFLEX) and CAD software.
   • Understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques.
   • Knowledge of welding standards, offshore floating building construction practices, and fabrication methods for offshore floating structures.
4. Language:
