TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The city government of Tasikmalaya has been working to boost its original regional income (PAD) through third‑party parking management over the past few weeks.

A total of 17 official vendors have been engaged to manage parking on several streets in hopes that parking fees, which have not been optimal so far, can increase.

Nevertheless, behind the goal of raising PAD, a controversy has emerged concerning vendor profits, which are said to amount to only 5 percent.

At the same time, classic field problems such as insufficient outreach, the presence of informal parking attendants, and alleged leakage of deposits due to collusion with certain individuals remain considered tasks that must be addressed soon.

The head of the Al‑Ghana Bina Insan Tasikmalaya Foundation, H. Novez Narayana, admits that he does not know for certain the details of the widely discussed 5‑percent profit‑sharing scheme.

He said that at the time of signing the cooperation agreement, there had been no detailed discussion of the mechanism.

“There is still no clarity regarding the 5 percent. Therefore, we would like to meet again to discuss it,” he told Radar on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

Even so, Novez regards the third‑party parking management program as a positive move to help the Transportation Office meet its PAD targets, which have been difficult to reach so far.

However, he notes that implementation in the field has not proceeded smoothly.

Socialization directed at parking attendants is still considered insufficient, causing many of them to be surprised when vendors began conducting registration and management.

Some parking attendants, he said, became cooperative after receiving clarification.

However, many also objected because the collection target was deemed too high compared to the actual conditions in the field.

“The target must indeed increase, but it must be rational. The government must also consider the problems that parking attendants have faced so far,” he said.

According to Novez, the potential for parking fees in Tasikmalaya City is actually quite large.

Unfortunately, however, this potential has reportedly been leaking due to parties requesting payments outside the official mechanism.

He admits to receiving various reports about alleged individuals demanding a share of parking revenue, causing income that should have entered the regional treasury to be lost along the way.
