Ong Seong Wu, who for the first time plays a villain character, shares his thoughts on his role in the latest drama, Spooky in Love.
Spooky in Love, a remake of the 2011 film Spellbound, is an occult‑themed romantic drama depicting the turbulent partnership between Cheon Yeo Ri (Park Eun Bin), a chaebol who can see ghosts, and Ma Gang Wook (Yang Se Jong), an enthusiastic prosecutor who is afraid of them.
Ong Seong Wu plays a villain character named Kang Min Hwan, a figure who sharply contrasts with the youthful and fresh image he displayed in previous roles.

K-pop idol and actor, Ong Seong Wu, explains why he decided to join the Spooky In Love project, Beauties.
He said, “Because the original film was very popular, I’m really excited about the remake. I think I can bring fresh tension to the story through the original character Kang Min Hwan, who doesn’t exist in the original film.”
Kang Min Hwan hides boundless ambition behind a gentle smile. He has a dangerous side driven by a craving for recognition and feelings of inadequacy, and he manipulates others’ emotions to get what he wants.
Taking on his first villain role since his acting debut, Ong Seong Wu explained, "Kang Min Hwan is a character with a clear purpose. I focused on the motivations behind his actions and how he justifies them in my performance."
He added that he wanted to convey a colder atmosphere and hoped viewers would notice that Ong Seong Wu also has a very different side.
"The key point to note is how Cheon Yeo Ri and Ma Gang Wook collaborate to solve frightening cases," he added.
And that's the story of Ong Seong Wu about his first time playing a villain, and don't miss the drama Spooky in Love premiering on Saturday (18/7/26) on Netflix, Beauties!
