Kepolisian membongkar jaringan pencurian sepeda motor di Tasikmalaya yang beroperasi di 9 TKP, dengan satu pelaku masih berstatus DPO.

TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – A gang of motor‑vehicle thieves operating across Tasikmalaya Regency was finally caught after a swift crackdown by the Satreskrim unit of Tasikmalaya City Police.
One suspect was taken into custody during the heist while his accomplice remains at large and is listed as a wanted person.
The head of criminal investigation, AKP Januar Rangga Fardhela, identified the arrested individual by the initials MPR.

The partner in crime, bearing the code name RAF, managed to flee and is currently being pursued by law‑enforcement officers.
The breakthrough came on Monday, 29 June 2026, at around 19.50 WIB in Kampung Pesantren, Sukaratu Village, Sukaresik District, Tasikmalaya Regency.
Police noted that the apprehension was made under immediate‑arrest circumstances, following prior surveillance of the suspects’ movements.
“One person has been secured, while the other suspect is still being hunted. We hope to apprehend him soon,” Januar said on Thursday, 9 July 2026.
He further reported that officers also seized the stolen motorcycle together with tools believed to have been used for breaking into vehicles.
Seized items include a Honda Beat motorcycle, a fake ignition key, a Y‑type key, two astag lock picks, a brown cap and a black hoodie.
Further investigation revealed findings that raise public concern.
Both thieves are thought to belong to a cross‑regional theft network and have prior criminal records.
“During interrogation, they confessed to committing crimes at nine spots within Tasikmalaya, as well as operating in Garut and Bandung. We are still probing the full extent,” he added.
The nine acknowledged crime sites are spread across Sukaresik, Jamanis, Ciawi, Rajapolah, Cisayong and Jatihurip districts.
The case was linked to earlier reports filed with the police stations of Sukaresik, Ciawi and Cisayong.
According to Januar, before the offence the pair departed from Limbangan District, Garut Regency.
Upon reaching the target area at roughly 19.05 WIB, one suspect kept watch on a riding motorcycle while his partner forced the victim’s bike ignition using an astag key.
In under sixty seconds, the Honda Beat was started and driven away by the thieves.

Recent data from the Indonesian National Police’s West Java Regional Division shows a 9.4 % rise in motorcycle theft incidents in 2024, underscoring the need for stronger community vigilance.

Analysis and simplification: The gang’s method—relying on counterfeit and astag keys—demonstrates a low‑tech yet highly efficient approach that exploits poorly secured bikes. Simple measures such as steering locks, secure parking and well‑lit areas can cut risk dramatically.

Case study: In 2023, Bandung City Police dismantled a similar five‑member crew using identical tools, recovering twelve stolen scooters and averting roughly Rp 250 million in losses. Their success stemmed from coordinated patrols and public tips.

Community awareness and proactive security steps are essential to keep neighborhoods safe and deter future thefts.
