TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The 25th anniversary of Tasikmalaya City was marred by disputes and uproar linked to the Lumiland light festival held in Dadaha. Social media buzzed with discussions about the event, ranging from complaints over steep ticket prices to questions about its public festival concept.

As is known, the Lumiland light festival formed part of the schedule for Tasikmalaya City’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Its inauguration was even attended by the Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan.

In the initial Facebook post about the event’s launch, Thecuy.com’s upload was flooded with netizens’ comments lamenting the high entrance fee. Some even argued that holding a paid ticket event for the city’s anniversary was inappropriate.

Similar to user Nurdien, who raised concerns about the fees for the city’s anniversary celebration. This led to the perception that the government was commercializing the yearly event. “They call it the anniversary of Tasik city, but there’s an expensive entrance fee again, it should be free if it’s truly the anniversary of Tasikmalaya city. It’s like the Tasikmalaya regency anniversary, which is free even with many capital city artists,” he wrote.

The debate continued over the distribution of free tickets for elementary school students, which some parents felt placed a burden on them. Some children insisted on attending the event because it was free, yet the ticket cost still weighed heavily on the families.

Some parents even voiced their distress by posting videos of their children crying because they wanted to go. For them, the Rp 35,000 ticket price was a heavy strain just to see the light decorations.

This situation sparked a variety of reactions and comments from netizens. Some thought parents should sacrifice for their children, while others said one shouldn’t force themselves if they can’t afford it. Still others argued that the free-ticket marketing stunt was making things harder for parents. “Nyangsarakeun rakyat leutik,” he remarked.

Despite the many complaints about the Lumiland ticket price, many residents still attended and enjoyed the light festival. Moreover, starting on October 19, 2026, organizers reduced the ticket price: from Rp 35,000 to Rp 30,000 for adults and from Rp 25,000 to Rp 20,000 for children.
