Thecuy.com – A large‑scale performance called Lestari Tradisi Bandung 1990 will take place at Bumi Sangkuriang, Bandung, on 17 October 2026. The event is produced by Titimangsa in collaboration with Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation and seeks to rekindle the spirit of Sundanese artistic expression.
Enthusiasm for Preserving Culture
Program Director of Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation, Renitasari Adrian, voiced her excitement about the gathering. She noted that the program will include 250 participants in a showcase aimed at youth. “We’re putting on a showcase, they told us there would be youngsters, even kids, in it, so we’re not limiting age,” she remarked.
Renitasari also reminisced about growing up in Bandung, where she learned to appreciate and practice Sundanese customs. “As a kid living in Bandung, we were usually taught at least one traditional dance and also to sing local songs in Sundanese,” she explained.
Re‑exploring the Era of Artistic Vibrancy
Titimangsa’s producer and founder, Happy Salma, said the choice of the Bandung 1990 theme stems from the belief that the 1990s represented a peak period for Sundanese artistic life. “Why Bandung? According to the survey, the 90s were the heartbeat, the vibrancy, of Sundanese art,” she noted. The gathering is also intended to motivate others to safeguard Sundanese cultural heritage.
Event Line‑up and Performances
The program will include diverse activities, most notably a talent showcase highlighting performers from different community studios and local creators. The finale will be hosted by the renowned presenting trio—Kang Sule, Ceu Popon, and Kang Ohang—and will present acts by Doel Sumbang, Nining Meida, and Dewi Gita.
In addition, the festival will host an art contest with entrants from numerous studios. Judging will be carried out by a panel composed of seasoned art professionals and leading Sundanese dance masters.
The organizers hope the gathering will serve both as a reunion for veteran artists and as an inspiration for younger generations to maintain Sundanese artistic and cultural traditions.
