TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The revenue allocation from the Karaha Cakrabuana geothermal development is reportedly unclear. Ami Fahmi, Deputy Chairman of the Tasikmalaya Regency DPRD, previously indicated that the regional income derived from PTLP amounted to only Rp 300 million. However, an earlier commitment had set the target at up to Rp 25 billion.

“When I was still serving on Commission III of the Tasikmalaya District DPRD, a promise was made back in 2017 that Pertamina Geothermal Energy would provide the region with Rp 25 billion in revenue once the capacity reached 33 megawatts. Up until now, however, the region has only received Rp 300 million,” Ami told Radar on Wednesday (14/10/2026).

Ami’s explanation is linked to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ geothermal development plan for Mount Galunggung, which has already entered the tender stage. Ami urged that the regional revenue contributed by PTLP Karaha be taken into account by local governments when addressing the central government’s geothermal development plans for Galunggung, emphasizing that considerations should include not only environmental aspects but also the regional original income (PAD) derived from the energy sector.

Separately, the First Earth Scientist Investigator at the Tasikmalaya Regional Office of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) for Area VI, Narendra Surya, explained that PTLP Karaha generally covers the regencies of Tasikmalaya and Garut. Both of these areas fall within the Karaha Cakrabuana Geothermal Working Area (WKP). PTLP Karaha itself is managed by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE).

With respect to the drilling location, Narendra based his reference on information published by PGE. Administratively, the drilling site, production wells, injection wells, power plant, and supporting infrastructure of the Karaha PLTP are situated in Kadipaten District, Tasikmalaya Regency, as well as Karang Tengah District and Pangatikan District, Garut Regency.

“However, to provide an accurate response, official technical data from PT. Pertamina Geothermal Energy is required,” he said during an interview with Radar on Thursday (15/10/2026).

Concerning the distribution of geothermal revenue, Narendra stated that it is governed by Law Number 1 of 2022 concerning Financial Relations between the Central Government and Regional Governments (UU HKPD). The allocation of revenue through the Geothermal Natural Resource Revenue Sharing Fund (DBH Pabum) is structured as follows: 16% for the producing provincial government, 32% for the producing district/city government, 12% for the district/city directly bordering the producing area, 12% for other districts/cities within the same province, and 8% for the processing district/city.
