Thecuy.com – PKB faction member of Commission II DPR, Muhammad Khozin, respects the complaint lodged against the General Election Commission (KPU) to the Election Organizer Honor Council (DKPP) concerning Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s nomination as vice-presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

Khozin stated that every citizen has the right to pursue legal action. In his view, the process should be respected and carried out in accordance with applicable mechanisms.

“First, we respect every legal effort and legal process undertaken by citizens, because we are a country governed by law, space is available, please proceed. But clearly, we will see what the mechanism will be later,” Khozin said at the PKB DPP Office, Central Jakarta, Saturday (10/10).

Khozin mentioned that Commission II DPR, through the Election Bill Working Committee (Panja), is also paying attention to the Constitutional Court (MK) decision, including the considerations and facts of the trial related to the conduct of elections. He hopes that the improvement of legal norms in the Election Bill can prevent similar issues from recurring in the future.

“What is the purpose? One, so that similar things do not happen again in the future. So the legal norm must be proper and singular, there must be no room for dispute, no room for multiple interpretations, like that,” Khozin said.

Khozin also explained PKB’s stance on the plan to form a special committee (pansus) to examine the MK ruling regarding Gibran’s diploma. He said PKB has not yet taken an official position because it is still studying the complete copy of the MK decision.

“Not yet, up to this point PKB has not taken an official stance because we are still studying and calculating the complete copy of the decision. This is only 3 days ago,” Khozin said. “Even officially, both the party institution, Commission II, and the DPR RI, yesterday there was a statement from the Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Mr. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, we are waiting for the official copy of the decision for study and calculation. Well, it will be announced in due time,” he continued.

Furthermore, Khozin said that the MK decision is one of the considerations in revising the Election Law. He said there were about 160 material review requests regarding the Election Law, with 22 to 24 cases granted or partially granted.

“That will serve as a baseline for discussion, besides the fact that Commission II has also held dozens of RDPU meetings. We will also invite experts, invite academics, and invite non-parliamentary parties as well,” he said.

Khozin said Commission II will continue to utilize the recess period to discuss the Election Bill. The recess period runs from October 9 to November 9. He said the Working Committee targets the completion of the Election Bill and its academic draft by the end of December 2026. Subsequently, the Bill is targeted to enter the plenary meeting as a DPR initiative in January 2027, with plans for enactment in March.
