TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Anggota DPRD Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Iyam Maryani, menilai kasus hilangnya remaja berusia 16 tahun asal Desa Simpang, Kecamatan Bantarkalong, yang ditemukan di sebuah apartemen di Tangerang, Banten, harus menjadi perhatian bersama.
Peristiwa tersebut menjadi pengingat pentingnya pengawasan, komunikasi, dan perlindungan terhadap anak, terutama remaja yang mulai menjalani aktivitas secara mandiri jauh dari keluarga.
Menurut Iyam, keberhasilan kepolisian menemukan korban patut diapresiasi. Namun, perhatian tidak boleh berhenti setelah korban ditemukan. Pemulihan kondisi psikologis, pendampingan keluarga, serta penelusuran penyebab korban meninggalkan tempat tinggalnya perlu menjadi prioritas agar kejadian serupa tidak terulang.

Ia menegaskan, anak yang masih berusia 16 tahun berada dalam fase pertumbuhan yang membutuhkan perhatian lebih dari keluarga, lingkungan, sekolah, and the government. Because of that, the case should not be judged hastily from one perspective before the motive and background of the victim’s departure are revealed.
“We must not hastily blame the child or his family. We must wait for the police investigation results and understand what truly happened. The most important thing is to prioritize the victim’s safety and psychological condition, so that the child does not experience additional pressure after this incident,” he said.
Iyam also encouraged strengthening communication between parents and children. In his view, teenagers need a safe space to talk about the problems they face, whether in family, school, or social environments. With open communication, the issues experienced by children are expected to be identified early.
“Monitoring children is important, but it must be accompanied by good communication. Children need to feel comfortable to talk when facing problems. They should not choose to leave or seek another place because they feel they have no space to share their problems,” he said.
In addition to family, he considered that schools and community environments play a crucial role in detecting changes in children’s behavior and preventing risks that could threaten their safety. Local governments together with relevant agencies also need to ensure that complaint and support mechanisms for children are easily accessible.
