Galatasaray legend Erdal Keser has lavished praise on Barcelona’s promising forward Lamine Yamal ahead of the clubs’ UEFA Champions League clash. According to an AS report quoted by Goal, the former Turkish international views Yamal as a potential heir to Lionel Messi. Beyond lauding the young talent, Keser also revealed that Galatasaray now possesses a covert weapon capable of nullifying the Catalan giants.

The former Istanbul club’s star anticipates an intensely fought match. He believes the recent addition of fresh talent to Galatasaray’s roster marks a key shift compared with prior seasons.

Victor Osimhen as Galatasaray’s secret weapon

Erdal Keser underscores Victor Osimhen’s pivotal role as the primary game‑changer for Galatasaray this campaign. The Nigerian striker is regarded as possessing a distinctive ability never before seen in the Turkish league’s powerhouse. Keser states that the forward’s physical condition will be decisive in determining the match’s outcome.

“He is the most vital player; if he is fit and available to play, it will give the team a major edge because he can alter the flow of the game on his own,” Keser remarked.

Turning to Osimhen, Keser also commended Ilkay Gundogan, who has recently returned to Turkish football. He recalled his earlier attempts to persuade the former Manchester City midfielder to don the Turkish national team jersey.

Unreserved praise for Lamine Yamal and Karim Adeyemi

Erdal Keser’s admiration for Barcelona’s young Spanish star Lamine Yamal is unequivocal. He regards the player’s talent as exceptionally rare in contemporary football and believes his immense potential poses the most serious threat to opposing defences.

“There is no room for debate about Lamine Yamal; he is the next Messi because no other player displays a comparable level of skill,” Keser asserted.

Keser also discussed Karim Adeyemi’s progression, noting that the player has flourished after finding the right tactical fit at Barcelona. “His former club failed to grasp his qualities and missed the chance to unleash his hidden ability to exploit space behind the defence,” Keser added while outlining Adeyemi’s adaptation.

Mapping domestic competition and Champions League rivalry

Keser’s analysis concludes with a comparison of the competitive landscapes across the Turkish league, Bundesliga, and La Liga. He argues that the Turkish league’s standard now mirrors the elite level of European football, with the dominance of a single powerhouse—such as Bayern Munich in Germany—echoing the current dynamics in Spain.

“In Germany, there is only Bayern Munich and other clubs contend against them; the same pattern exists in Spain today, where Barcelona leads and the rest follow,” Keser observed. Galatasaray is prepared to showcase the rapid advancement of Turkish football during the challenging away fixture, hoping the players’ heightened confidence will yield an upset against the hosts on the European stage.
