Thecuy.com, Bekasi – Muhammad Khozin, a politician from the National Awakening Party (PKB), has taken a serious stance on the alleged sexual violence case involving female students at a religious boarding school in South Bekasi. He stated that individuals who claim to be kiai or gus but engage in immoral behavior do not deserve to be called by those titles.

Khozin emphasized that sexual violence and reprehensible behavior contradict the religious values taught in pesantren. According to him, such actions by certain individuals damage the reputation of pesantren. “Yes, there are many individuals who claim to be Kiai, individuals who claim to be Gus, who, by virtue of their immoral behavior, are neither Gus nor Kiai,” he said during a press conference launching the PKB Awards 2026 to commemorate National Students Day at the PKB DPP Office in Central Jakarta.

Khozin added that immoral actions, including sexual harassment and violence, are never justified in pesantren teachings. “The essence of pesantren is that it will never tolerate immoral actions. For example, sexual harassment, violence, and other reprehensible actions have never been taught in pesantren since its inception because they are far from the values we uphold,” Khozin explained.

Furthermore, Khozin stated that PKB is giving serious attention to efforts to prevent sexual violence in pesantren environments. “So, during PKB’s previous anniversary celebration, we also organized a special forum featuring several figures, including the Minister of Religion, from Bareskrim, to discuss how we can prepare an anti-sexual violence module for pesantren,” he elaborated.

The alleged sexual violence case involves the head of the pesantren, with the initials MHH (28). To date, the police have identified more than 10 victims. The case came to light after a report was filed by the family of one of the victims on October 7, 2026, and is suspected to have occurred repeatedly from 2023 until September 2026.

With Khozin’s statement, it is hoped that this will provide impetus for law enforcement and protection of female students across Indonesia.
