Thecuy.com, Jakarta – The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, announced that the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has provided 37 special school buses for people with disabilities. These buses are designed for use only by people with disabilities and not for the general public.
The announcement was made by Pramono while attending the opening of the Special Kids Expo (SPEKIX) 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on Saturday, October 12, 2026. “We have prepared 37 special school buses that are disability-friendly, buses that are only for people with disabilities, not for the general public, and there are 10 routes for children from families with disabilities,” he said.
In addition to providing special school buses for people with disabilities, Governor Pramono also said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strive to improve public transport accessibility. Among other things, the government has provided guiding blocks at several main bus stops so that people with disabilities can access MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, and Transjabodetabek services.
Pramono added that the Jakarta LRT, especially the newly inaugurated Kelapa Gading-Manggarai route, is also equipped with disability-friendly facilities. Although not all stations are fully equipped with lifts yet, several main stops now have such facilities.
In the health sector, Pramono noted that Jakarta has 44 community health centers, 31 hospitals, and 292 sub-health posts, all of which have been designed to be disability-friendly. In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also has 584 ‘White Force’ personnel who provide services from village to village, especially for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children with special needs.
“If anyone needs an ambulance or a doctor, please make use of it. Without sincere support, this would not be possible,” Pramono added.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also provides educational support for children with special needs by having 88 special schools (SLB), consisting of 13 public SLBs and 75 private SLBs. Pramono also opened up opportunities for children with disabilities to obtain scholarships through the LPDP Jakarta program, which is scheduled to start next year.
On that occasion, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, appreciated the efforts of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in providing equal access for children with disabilities. She emphasized that the fulfillment of children’s rights is a shared responsibility of the central government, local governments, and various related parties.
“Children with disabilities are not asking for special treatment, but want to be heard, accepted, appreciated, protected, and given equal opportunities to grow and develop,” Arifatul said.
