TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Teachers in Tasikmalaya Regency demonstrated compassion for the victims of the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by launching a joint fundraising effort. The Indonesian Republic Teachers Association (PGRI) of Tasikmalaya Regency successfully collected donations amounting to Rp100 million through member contributions.

The donation was handed over directly by the Chairman of PGRI Tasikmalaya Regency, Unang Arifin, to the earthquake-affected community in Cibal District, Manggarai Regency, NTT, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Unang visited the site in person to verify that the aid reached the affected residents. The direct distribution served as a manifestation of the PGRI Tasikmalaya Regency family’s concern and an effort to assist in meeting the community’s needs following the disaster.

“Thank God, the contributions from PGRI members in Tasikmalaya Regency totaled Rp100 million, and we have handed over this aid directly to the disaster victims,” he said.

According to Unang, the assistance was the result of mutual cooperation among PGRI members in Tasikmalaya Regency. The collected funds are hoped to alleviate the hardships faced by the community still contending with the earthquake’s aftereffects.

In addition to the aid from PGRI Tasikmalaya Regency, the Board of PGRI West Java Province also contributed assistance during the event. The support comprised monetary donations and essential food items for the affected community.

The joint distribution of aid formed part of the PGRI family’s solidarity toward the community confronting a challenging situation due to the disaster. The support extended was not limited to financial contributions but also encompassed essential provisions that could be immediately utilized by residents.

Unang emphasized that the action demonstrated the concern of PGRI members in Tasikmalaya Regency for their fellow human beings. The fund collection through member dues also represented a collective involvement of teachers in assisting the community affected by the disaster.

“We hope this assistance will be beneficial and help alleviate the burden of the community impacted by the earthquake,” he said.
