TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Upaya penataan kawasan Dadaha di Kota Tasikmalaya harus konsisten hingga akhir, tanpa melemah ketika menghadapi masalah anggaran.

Youth activist Muhammad Satriana Ilham from Tasikmalaya emphasized the importance of continuing the area’s development, especially concerning the regulation of street vendors (Pedagang Kaki Lima/PKL).

He argued that the government should not view regulation as an end in itself without securing solutions to sustain traders’ economic livelihood.

Satriana believes that public space development is crucial for maintaining order, cleanliness, comfort, and restoring the area’s function.

However, this policy must go hand in hand with providing clarity for people’s futures who rely on trading for their livelihood.

“Efforts to regulate should not stop at clearing or relocating street vendors. The government must step forward with clear and lasting solutions,” he said on Monday (5/10/2026).

He believes that the Dadaha development should undergo a full review. Without a solid plan, alternative sites, ongoing supervision and continuous guidance, the street vendor issue could resurface.

He thinks the government should have prepared a plan from the outset, covering trader mapping, relocation site selection, trading mechanisms, supporting facilities, and post-development monitoring patterns.

“If the study is complete, the public surely needs clarity. Where will the street vendors be placed, what is the process, when will it end, and who is responsible,” he said.

Satriana stressed that he does not object to the Tasikmalaya City Government’s effort to restore Dadaha’s function as a public space. The focus, however, is ensuring that regulation does not outpace the provision of solutions.

According to him, the government must ensure that alternative locations are viable and strategic. Relocation should also consider consumer access, security, facilities, traffic, and economic potential.

“Street vendors should not merely be relocated from one spot to another without assessing whether the new site can revive their businesses,” he explained.

Satriana also criticized the issue of limited budget and personnel, which could become excuses for incomplete development.

He thinks budget concerns should have been assessed during the planning stage. If the regional revenue is limited, the government must explore alternative schemes, set priorities, and create opportunities for collaboration with various parties.
