The novelist Yuki Yaku disclosed that the series Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki will conclude with its 12th installment on October 16. The creator shared the update via his X (formerly Twitter) profile. Shogakukan has been releasing the novel under its Gagaga Bunko label since May 2016. Illustrations are handled by Fly, who also contributes to the Jaku-kyara Tomozaki-kun project. The narrative entered its final phase with the 11th volume in March 2023.
Fumiya Tomozaki is a pro gamer but lacks everyday social finesse and any talent for touching grass. Despite climbing to the top of Attack Families’ ranking, he feels like a background character in school. However, when the game’s runner‑up requests an in‑person meeting, Tomozaki agrees, hoping to improve his social standing. To his astonishment, his seemingly ordinary classmate Aoi Hinami is actually the second‑best player in the game, viewing life itself as a GOATed challenge. Will Tomozaki heed her expert tips and apply them to the real world?
Eight Chida turned the novel into a manga released by Square Enix. The series appeared in Monthly Gangan Joker from December 2017 through February 2021. Additionally, a side story titled Minami Nanami Wants to Shine, illustrated by Bana Yoshida, ran in Monthly Sunday Gene‑X and on MangaONE.
Yen Press handles North American distribution for both the novel and its manga adaptation.
