PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – The West Java Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) continues to push for the development of craft products in Pangandaran Regency so that they become widely known and can enter national and even international markets.

The Chairperson of the West Java Dekranasda, Noneng Komara Nengsih, made this statement during a working visit to monitor the training of artisans and the progress of the local Dekranasda in Pangandaran on Friday (25/9/2026).

Noneng believes that Pangandaran has great potential for crafts. However, a major challenge that still exists is the lack of promotion space and a special exhibition area (UMKM stall) to display the work of local artisans.

The digitalization of curbside parking in Tasikmalaya City is hampered by signal problems and unlicensed parking attendants, while the Dadaha Tasikmalaya revitalization team is operating without leadership.

“Pangandaran has many potential products, but still lacks adequate display space. The head of the Tourism Office (Dadan Sugistha) said that a room for an UMKM stall has been prepared,” she said.

She hopes that the stall can be realized soon, not only as a place to display craft products, but also as a center for activities and the administrative secretariat of the Pangandaran Dekranasda.

As a leading tourist destination in West Java, Pangandaran is considered to have a strategic advantage. The high influx of tourists is a potential market for local craft products as typical souvenirs of the region. This potential is increasingly supported by the availability of abundant raw materials and increasingly adequate regional infrastructure.

“Visitors to Pangandaran need souvenirs. That is a clear market. With abundant raw materials and improving infrastructure, Pangandaran’s products should be able to reach a global scale,” she emphasized.

Nevertheless, Noneng highlighted one marketing strategy that she believes has not been optimally developed, namely collaboration between artisans and the local hospitality industry.

“There are many hotels in Pangandaran, but cooperation with the hospitality sector does not appear to have been optimally maximized,” she said.

She hopes that cooperation with hotels can be improved quickly so that local craft products become more accessible to tourists. (Deni Nurdiansah)
