Thecuy.com – The Indonesian music scene mourns the passing of Guruh Soekarnoputra on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 04.16 WIB at RS Siloam Semanggi. As a tribute to his services and works, Erwin Gutawa and his orchestra presented a special tribute at the 2026 Pestapora event in Taman Riang Gembira, held on the same day.
The tribute was spontaneously organized after Erwin and his team received the sad news. They rehearsed backstage immediately before going on stage. From the Pestapora stage, Erwin asked the audience to pause and pray for the deceased Guruh Soekarnoputra.
Erwin Gutawa Orchestra performed “Kala Sang Surya Tenggelam”, one of Guruh’s songs that became popular through Chrisye’s rendition. Using this song, they recalled Guruh’s journey and his contributions to the country’s music industry. Erwin expressed his hope that Guruh’s soul would find the best place by Allah’s side.
Guruh Soekarnoputra was known as a renowned maestro and great Indonesian artist who left a deep imprint on the world of music. Erwin also referred to Guruh as a close friend and a highly respected music legend.
After the tribute, Erwin Gutawa Orchestra continued their performance with a collaboration with Fourtwnty, presenting several songs that Erwin had composed for Chrisye, including “Angin Malam”, “Seperti yang Kau Minta”, “Cintaku”, “Andai Aku Bisa”, “Lilin Kecil”, and “Pergilah Kasih”.
The tribute moment served as a direct homage from the Pestapora stage to Guruh Soekarnoputra, while also reminding the public of the works and legacy he left in Indonesian music.
