This statement was delivered by the Chief of Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Johnny expressed gratitude to all citizens for exercising their right to express opinions responsibly. The police are present to ensure that voicing aspirations proceeds safely while keeping other community activities uninterrupted.
Protective Escort and Human‑Focused Services
During security operations, the police prioritize a humane, dialogic, and persuasive approach. Officers not only secure the area but also provide services such as traffic management and monitoring the surrounding situation during the event.
Johnny emphasized that the police presence aims to serve the public, allowing democratic space to be used optimally without infringing on others’ rights to conduct activities safely and comfortably.
Community Activities and Integrated Security
Metro Jaya Police escorted 99 community events, comprising 73 opinion‑expressing activities and 26 others. A total of 26,386 combined personnel were on standby to guarantee security and smooth execution of these activities.
The police also carried out gradual traffic arrangement and normalization after the events concluded, ensuring the situation returned to a stable state.
Call to Uphold Unity and Mature Democracy
Johnny called on all members of society to continuously maintain order and respect each other when using public spaces as shared areas. A mature democratic attitude is considered essential so that expression of aspirations can be carried out peacefully and responsibly.
