PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com–Market traders are complaining that the drainage repairs promised by the Pangandaran District Government have not materialised. The already damaged drainage condition causes the market area to be flooded with puddles.

The chairman of the Pananjung Market Traders Association (HP2P), Opik, said that he had communicated with the Regency’s Cooperative, SME, Trade and Industry Service regarding the planned development. However, the response he received was disappointing.

“They said there is no budget this year to build roads and drainage channels,” he said recently.

He said that the plan to build roads and drainage had previously been discussed in a meeting. In fact, the budget was said to be around Rp1 billion. “But why did the budget suddenly become zero?” he asked.

The market roads were waterlogged and flooded, especially during the rainy season, prompting traders to take self-help measures to repair them. They raised funds to purchase crushed stone and carry out concreting in several sections of the market road. However, the repairs could not be carried out comprehensively.

“We have also carried out concreting through self-help efforts to reduce waterlogging so that the area is not messy and swampy,” he said.

The Head of the Cooperative, SME, Trade and Industry Service of Pangandaran Regency, Tedi Garnida, said that the drainage development in Pananjung Market had actually been proposed through the 2026 Revised Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD Perubahan).

In addition to the Pananjung Market drainage, there are also plans for paving work in Kalipucang Market and Parigi Market. “It has already been proposed through the 2026 Revised Regional Budget, including paving work in Kalipucang Market and Parigi Market,” he said.

Previously, the Pangandaran District Government, through the Cooperative Service, had disclosed the amount of the drainage repair budget, which reached Rp 500 million per market. (Deni Nurdiansah)
