TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The matter of worker protection has resurfaced in Tasikmalaya. A group of workers belonging to the Greater Coalition for Indonesian Workers’ Struggle (KBPBI) from Tasikmalaya City and Regency stormed the Tasikmalaya City DPRD building on Thursday (10/9/2026).

Not merely arriving with banners and voicing demands, the workers urged the government and legislators to take concrete action concerning worker protection and guaranteed rights.

The demonstration at the Tasikmalaya City DPRD building on RE Martadinata Street proceeded peacefully and smoothly.

Ojol services in Tasikmalaya have highlighted deductions of up to 28 percent, urging app providers to stop eroding driver earnings. Meanwhile, Fauzan’s team submitted a clarification to KADIN West Java, emphasizing concerns over a verification process they deemed non-transparent during the Mukota meeting.

However, the demonstrators’ tone was harsh. They urged the government to stop treating labor issues merely as discussion topics that end on meeting tables.

Workers called for recommendations concerning the enactment of labor protection legislation.

They also asked the Tasikmalaya City Government and DPRD to forward these aspirations to the central government level.

For workers, strong regulations are necessary to ensure that their rights are not easily disregarded.

The coordinator of the action, Martin, emphasized that the crowd’s arrival at the representatives’ building was not merely a ceremonial act.

He even threatened to bring back a larger crowd if the demands did not receive a serious response.

Today we are confident that we are not playing around. What we have presented is for the welfare and benefit of Indonesian workers, so that such heartbreaking incidents will not happen again,” said Martin.

He noted that the issue of freedom of association in Tasikmalaya City remains under scrutiny.

Furthermore, according to him, violations of workers’ normative rights in both Tasikmalaya City and Regency remain significant.

“Therefore, today we truly came here to demonstrate our stance with an unyielding position. We ask the government to provide a written recommendation,” he asserted.

His statement was met with shouts from the demonstrators.

Martin added that similar actions were carried out simultaneously in several regions across Indonesia.

He also praised the Tasikmalaya City DPRD and City Government for directly receiving the workers’ aspirations.

I greatly hope and thank you because today we were directly received by the Speaker of the DPRD, H Aslim, and representatives from the City Government,” he said.

The workers’ demands subsequently received a response from the local government and the Tasikmalaya City DPRD.
