Thecuy.com, Bantul – Persita Tangerang could only manage a 1‑1 stalemate away at PSIM Yogyakarta in the season opener of the BRI Super League 2026/2027 held at Sultan Agung Stadium, Bantul, on Saturday (5/9/2026). Although they took the lead first, Persita failed to keep the advantage after PSIM found the equalizing goal in the final minutes of the match.
Persita broke the deadlock in the 49th minute thanks to a goal from their star striker, Luquinhas. This strike gave the Cisadane Warriors the momentum to dominate proceedings, with a solid defensive performance and several key saves from their goalkeeper. However, relentless pressure from PSIM in the final 20 minutes finally paid off when Adrian Purzycki took advantage of a loose ball in the penalty area and equalized in the 84th minute.
Persita’s coach, Carlos Pena, expressed disappointment with the result. He felt his team was very close to victory, but the intensity of PSIM’s late attacks disrupted Persita’s control. Carlos also praised the players’ effort, especially the young and new faces who featured in the tough match.
On the other hand, PSIM Yogyakarta’s manager, Jean‑Paul van Gastel, considered the draw a fair outcome. He noted his side’s passing quality was still below par and would be a focus for improvement. Van Gastel also said the substitute players brought fresh energy that helped PSIM rally during the game.
This draw marks a mixed start for both clubs in the new season. PSIM will continue their campaign when they face Persebaya Surabaya on 13 September, while Persita aim to refine their performance in upcoming matches to secure the victory they seek.
