For those of you who enjoy music-themed dramas, Four Hands, Two Sonatas should be on your watchlist, Thecuy. Lee Jun Young and Song Kang’s abilities as pianists in this drama are commendable thanks to their outstanding performances.
In this drama, Song Kang plays Kang Pi O, who comes from a wealthy family of piano experts. Pi O has a cold personality and doesn’t care much about others. However, beneath it all, there’s something he’s hiding, including his family’s treatment of him.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun Young plays Choi Jeong Yo, an ordinary high school student living in poverty but with an extraordinary talent for playing the piano. He is a hardworking, cheerful person, but hides behind his wounds.
Thanks to his incredible piano skills, he received a scholarship to attend an elite arts school in the music department. This was of course thanks to Hong Jae In (Jang Gyu Ri), who asked Choi Jeong Yo to practice piano at his school as his companion.
Unlike the two men, Hong Jae In focuses on the violin. She has a cheerful and talkative personality, is talented at playing the violin, and is very friendly. Her role isn’t perfect yet, but behind her cheerfulness lies a major secret that will emerge later.
In its first two episodes, the drama already presents a story full of puzzles and mystery. Naturally, the drama gives a makjang impression that leaves viewers astonished. Interestingly, the coming‑of‑age touch will make this drama even more improve and hint at character development that you should look forward to.
The drama’s visualization feels very luxurious. However, some scenes are made too dramatically, which will give a slightly uncomfortable feeling while watching. The tone in its editing itself tends to be bluish and grayish, indicating that the drama will be full of conflict.
The bromance between the characters Kang Pi O and Choi Jeong Yo also makes this drama so interesting with their chemistry. But will there be a love triangle with Hong Jae In later? That’s what makes this drama something you have to keep following, Thecuy.
It can be said that this drama isn’t a light‑type drama but also not too heavy. So, if you like musical dramas wrapped in drama and conflict, you can watch Four Hands, Two Sonatas on Netflix every Saturday and Sunday.
Happy watching, Thecuy! —
