Dark Gathering Season 2 unveiled the first installment of its new “horror visuals” lineup and announced a 2027 premiere. Studio OLM has been confirmed to return as the animation producer, with Hiroshi Ikehata directing. Shigeru Murakoshi reprises his role as series composer, and Yuri Ichinose returns as character designer. OLM oversees the animation production.
The anime’s initial season ran from July through December 2023. The upcoming second season relocates the narrative to Kyoto, picking up the manga adaptation at Chapter 34—titled “Journey to the Capital”—from Volume 9.
The principal voice actors will return for the new season as well:
- Nobunaga Shimazaki as Keitarō Gentōga
- Yu Sasahara as Yayoi Hōzuki
- Kana Hanazawa as Eiko Hōzuki
- Rina Kawaguchi as Ai Kamiyo
The series, created by Kenichi Kondo, is an occult horror that centers on Keitarō Gentōga, a college student endowed with mediumistic abilities. While employed as a private tutor, he encounters Yayoi Hōzuki, a young girl with enigmatic eyes. The inaugural season was broadcast in two consecutive cours from July to December 2023, and HIDIVE currently offers the first season, presenting the following synopsis:
After a traumatic run‑in with a lingering spirit, the ghost‑obsessed medium Keitaro Gentoga isolates himself to dodge further spectral mishaps. Yet no one can remain an island, and Keitaro eventually rejoins society by taking a part‑time tutoring job with the prodigious Yayoi Hōzuki. She’s not merely a book‑smart child prodigy; she’s also a gifted psychic determined to uncover the malevolent force behind her mother’s vanishing, and she’s fiercely intent on pulling Keitaro into her nightmarish realm of grotesque supernatural events.
