Koyoharu Gotoge penned and drew the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga. It ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 through May 2020, concluding after 23 volumes.

Ufotable’s anime adaptation launched with a 26‑episode first season from April to September 2019. Its popularity spurred the follow‑up film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, released in October 2020, which arguably sparked the anime‑movie trend. The film was later re‑edited into an 18‑episode Season 2 that ran from October 2021 to February 2022. Season 3, comprising 11 episodes, aired April‑June 2023, and Season 4, also 11 episodes, aired May‑June 2024, paving the way for the final arc.

The opening installment of the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy debuted in Japan on July 18, 2025, and broke records by grossing more than 25 billion yen (about 174 million USD) within its first 31 days.

After its Japanese launch, the film went worldwide on August 14, opening in North American cinemas on September 12 to set additional box‑office milestones. It later added SCREENX and ULTRA 4DX showings in Japan beginning February 20, representing the franchise’s debut in multi‑screen and immersive 4DX formats.
