The series’ original author, Ikka Matsuki, posted a statement after the sequel was revealed:
“I am genuinely pleased to hear that a new anime adaptation of Nippon Sangoku is in the works.
The modest ember kindled by the first season will flare into a blaze that reshapes the age, profoundly altering the fates of its inhabitants.
I’m curious about the scenes the original story will present when interpreted through the unique visual language of anime.
As the creator, I’m also eager to watch its journey as a fan.

In a not‑too‑distant Japan, civilization has collapsed after nuclear conflict, ecological catastrophes, and tyrannical rule. The country shatters into three rival realms, sparking a fresh era reminiscent of the Three Kingdoms. Aoteru Misumi, a modest local official, sets his ambition on reuniting the islands. Endowed with extensive knowledge and persuasive rhetoric, he climbs the ladder step by step. The tale of the man who would become a legendary tactician unfolds now.
