PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com-Access to gasoline in Langkaplancar District, Pangandaran Regency, remains limited by distance. Residents must travel many kilometers to reach a fuel station.

Langkaplancar District presently houses about 50,000 people spread across 15 villages. Their area has not yet been included in the official fuel distribution network.

For the majority of residents who work as farmers, fuel is more than just a vehicle necessity. They rely on it to run tractors, water pumps, cutting equipment, and chain saws essential for daily farming tasks.

Resident Anton from Langkaplancar reported that they are compelled to use small retail fuel stalls. To obtain fuel from a formal station, however, they must go to Parigi District, about 60 kilometers away.

This difficulty is far from trivial.

Besides the time and expense involved, the road conditions leading to the mountainous region of Langkaplancar also present a separate challenge.

“The problem is that there is no fuel station here (Langkaplancar) and we only have small fuel kiosks, while economic activities must continue,” he noted recently.

“We understand the laws and regulations. Buying fuel in containers also follows specific rules and procedures, including letters from the Agriculture Department, the village government, and required recommendation letters,” he explained.

The current challenge is how the community can obtain fuel easily and legally when no fuel station exists in their area, especially given that most residents depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

“Because most people in Langkaplancar District work as farmers who heavily need fuel for motorcycles, tractors, chain saws, water pumps, and other equipment,” he added.

This concern is also supported by Dede Efendi, a member of the Pangandaran Regency DPRD.

He pointed out that Langkaplancar currently has roughly 50,000 residents spread over 15 villages. Most of them work as farmers and planters, whose activities are highly dependent on fuel availability.

“Their main jobs are farming and planting, and all these activities require fuel,” he stated.

Up until now, residents needing fuel in larger quantities have had to buy it in containers from a gas station located in Parigi District. Lately, though, they have reported growing difficulty in acquiring fuel this way. “But now it is hard to purchase fuel using containers at the station,” he clarified.
