TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The activity at the Free Nutritious Meal Kitchen (MBG) Indihiang 1 appeared busier than usual on Tuesday (1/9/2026). The process of cooking and preparing meals has become a focus for the Tasikmalaya City Government, which is strengthening nutrition interventions to reduce stunting rates. The Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Viman Alfarizi, visited one of the MBG kitchens in the Indihiang area to conduct monitoring. The visit also served as part of a trial collaboration between the Tasik Gemas (Healthy Community Movement) program and the MBG program. The collaboration aims to provide nutritional intervention to pregnant women suffering from Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK), especially those who have not yet received routine local Supplementary Feeding (PMT). Through this scheme, pregnant women with KEK will receive nutritious food from the MBG menu, which is tailored to the needs of the beneficiaries. The government hopes that this step will help meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women and prevent new cases of stunting. Viman said that the local government would map pregnant women with KEK who require intervention. Currently, the number of pregnant women with KEK on record exceeds 200. “Hopefully, in the future, we can reduce the stunting rate in Tasikmalaya City and ensure no new cases of stunting occur,” Viman said during the monitoring. According to him, the program implementation would be evaluated periodically. Evaluations are conducted every three months to ensure that the food provided is truly received and consumed by the beneficiaries. “We will conduct evaluations every three months and ensure that the food provided through this program is truly consumed by the beneficiaries,” he said. On the other hand, monitoring is also carried out to ensure that MBG implementation at the kitchen level meets standards. The government, together with the MBG Task Force and relevant regional agencies, has begun conducting sweeps and assistance to MBG kitchens in Tasikmalaya City. The aspects observed include not only food quality, but also food safety, kitchen suitability standards, and the completeness of permits. “This must be done together. The Task Force also involves MBG entrepreneurs to ensure that each kitchen meets the established standards,” he explained. Viman appreciated the involvement of MBG entrepreneurs and kitchen managers in supporting the program. He believes that collaboration between the regional and central governments needs to be continually strengthened so that the MBG program does not only run administratively, but also has an impact on public health. “We are grateful to the MBG entrepreneurs who have become part of this collaboration. We want to ensure that the MBG program runs well, and that the Tasik Gemas program also runs,” he said. The MBG Indihiang 1 kitchen itself is one of the kitchens involved in the initial implementation of this collaboration. The local government encourages the kitchen to serve as an example in implementing standards for providing nutritious food, from processing to distribution. Through the synergy between Tasik Gemas and MBG, the Tasikmalaya City Government aims to make nutritional interventions for pregnant women with KEK more integrated and measurable.
