Other motorcycles focus on speed. The Vespa pursues memories. Other bikes want to arrive promptly when the throttle is pulled. The Vespa sometimes starts moving only after a polite request.
Yet it is precisely for this reason that Vespa has a family. It is not a family based on blood ties. Nor is it due to sharing the same residence.

That family is called a community. In celebration of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day, four Vespa communities in Tasikmalaya gathered for a Cheerful Camping event at Bukit Nangreu, Galunggung on Saturday evening, 29 August 2026.
The theme is simple yet profound: One Vespa, One Goal, One Family. The four communities are Baraya Scooter Tasikmalaya, Manonjaya Vespa, Scooter Tasikmalaya Club, and Vespa Freedom Club Indonesia.
Upon reflection, the theme is somewhat risky. One Vespa does not necessarily mean one mindset. One goal does not guarantee one route. Yet when they feel like one family, differing routes cease to be an issue.
The Vespas set off. Not for a race. Because if it were a race, the organizers might need to allocate time until the following morning.
At 11:00 on Saturday, participants gathered at the Heroes’ Cemetery meeting point. The ideal spot to begin the journey of independence.
Before savoring freedom, one must remember those who fought for it. From there, at 12:30, the group departed for Bukit Nangreu.
The Vespas rode toward Galunggung. Some had smooth engines. Others emitted a somewhat loud sound. There were also those who first needed reassurance that this journey was serious.

That’s Vespa for you. If everything were perfect, it probably wouldn’t be called a Vespa. Because in life, what makes a journey interesting is not a vehicle that is always in perfect condition.
But the friends who are always ready to help when the vehicle is ailing. Upon arrival at the site, from 15:00 to 17:30, preparations for various inter‑club competitions continued.
Here brotherhood is tested in a healthy manner. Friends become opponents. Opponents become friends again. The losers laughed. The winners laughed even more. Most importantly, no one took defeat home.
