The Baki spin‑off manga titled BAKI GAIDEN: KAIOH RETSU Doesn’t Mind Getting Isekai’d has been confirmed to receive a television anime series. This side story centers on Retsu Kaioh after his fight with Musashi Miyamoto in BAKI-DOU. After being reborn in a different world, Retsu aims to showcase the power of Chinese martial arts against swords, magic, and monstrous foes he has never encountered before.
TMS Entertainment will oversee the animation production, extending its work on the series that includes BAKI, Baki Hanma, and BAKI-DOU. The announcement trailer can be viewed below.
The series originates from an original idea by Baki creator Keisuke Itagaki, with Sai Ihara listed as the story writer and Eiji Murai responsible for the illustrations. It has been featured in Akita Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Champion since 2020. By August 2026, the manga has sold over 2 million copies in both printed and digital formats.
Keisuke Itagaki penned and drew the original Hanma Baki manga. It was published from 1991 to 1999 in Weekly Shonen Champion and compiled into 42 volumes. Three direct sequels followed—Baki, Baki Hanma, and Baki-Dou—all serialized in the same magazine. The fifth installment, again titled Baki-Dou (spelled differently), launched in October 2018 and revealed an anime adaptation in March 2024.
The most recent reboot kicked off in 2018 with Baki, delivering 26 episodes produced by Double Eagle and TMS Entertainment. Baki: The Great Raitai Tournament Saga arrived in spring 2020. Baki Hanma (alternatively titled Baki: Son of Ogre) serves as the third chapter of the revival, while Baki Hanma Season 2 continued directly after the premiere. Meanwhile, BAKI-DOU: The Invincible Samurai Part 2 premiered on Netflix in June of this year.
