TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Strengthening services for people with disabilities does not only depend on health workers, but also requires the active involvement of families and companions.

Therefore, the capacity of caregivers is continuously enhanced so that they are able to provide ongoing assistance and monitor the child’s development.

This effort was carried out by ’Aisyiyah of Tasikmalaya Regency through community-based rehabilitation therapy training (RBM) with a family-centered intervention approach for caregivers of people with disabilities. The event took place in the Aula of the Singaparna District Office on Thursday (28/8/2026).

The training featured an academic from Universitas ’Aisyiyah (UNISA) Yogyakarta, Veni Fatmawati, SSt.Ft., Ftr., M.Fis., as well as a speaker from RS KHZ Mustofa, dr. Taufiq Rahman Hakim.

The activity is part of strengthening ’Aisyiyah of Tasikmalaya Regency’s inclusion program, especially in improving family and caregiver understanding of handling, assistance, and monitoring the development of people with disabilities.

“Families hold a crucial position in the assistance process because most rehabilitation activities and child development monitoring take place within the family environment,” he said during confirmation on Friday (28/8/2026).

According to him, community-based rehabilitation therapy is a family-centered intervention that places caregivers as an essential part of the rehabilitation process. Families not only receive information but also play a role in applying assistance according to the child’s needs.

“With adequate training, families are expected to be able to provide more precise and sustainable assistance tailored to the needs of children with disabilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Veni Fatmawati explained that the training material covered inclusion programs through disability physiotherapy within the framework of community-based rehabilitation.

In this approach, there are three crucial elements that must work together to support the development and fulfillment of the needs of children with disabilities. These three are physiotherapists, parents, and companions.

“In supporting the development and needs of children with disabilities, there are three important elements, namely physiotherapists, parents, and companions,” he said.

Veni emphasized that assistance to children with disabilities cannot be done sporadically. The child’s development must be continuously observed and monitored so that any changes can be detected and become the basis for determining the next assistance steps.
