Police Commissioner Rita Wulandari Wibowo, the Director of Criminal Investigation for the Protection of Women and Children at the Jakarta Metro Police, said the five youths were found with fuel and bintaro fruit that had been prepared for burning. The operation is part of a police effort to pre‑empt a larger possible riot.

According to investigators’ mapping, the alleged rioters were divided into six clusters: a youth group, ordinary rioters, vandals and assault perpetrators, carriers of sharp weapons, organisers and funders, and mass recruiters.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metro Police, Police Commissioner Iman Imannudin, said investigators discovered legal evidence of individuals who instigated and financed the riot, worsening the situation in Senayan.
The unrest began on Thursday morning when an anti‑corruption rally took place at the Senayan parliamentary complex. The demonstration, organised by the United Pati Community Alliance (AMPB), demanded the enactment of the Asset Confiscation Bill by the House of Representatives. The rally remained peaceful thanks to security provided by roughly 18,000 police officers.

Nevertheless, later that afternoon, a fresh crowd gathered outside the legislative complex without clear demands. Some of them set rubbish on fire and tried to breach the security line, leading to a riot that caused damage to public facilities and resulted in one reported fatality.
The disturbance also affected transport services in the Senayan area. The Commuter Line route through Tanah Abang and Palmerah was disrupted by crowds on the railway tracks, while Transjakarta bus services were rerouted due to the unstable security situation.
The police continue to investigate the incident in order to expose the masterminds behind the recruitment and funding that caused the chaos in Senayan. This step is essential for the authorities to prevent similar occurrences in the future and to maintain public order.
