One Punch Man artist Yusuke Murata employed his son, the competitive bodybuilder Keisuke Murata, as a live model for the cover of the series’ most recent installment.
Issue 283 appeared in Tonari no Young Jump after Murata posted it on his X profile. Not long after, Keisuke uploaded a picture of himself striking the identical pose from the drawing, indicating that he acted as both the subject and the visual guide.
“I actually served as the model and visual reference for the new arc’s cover illustration.”
Keisuke gained notice in 2024 when he earned runner‑up in the 170 cm‑and‑shorter division at the Japanese National High School Boys Bodybuilding Contest. The artist Yusuke Murata praised the achievement then, whereas Keisuke expressed disappointment over not winning and vowed to keep training.
In 2014 Yusuke Murata announced he was a father, presenting a drawing made by his then‑seven‑year‑old child. Later, in March 2020, he showcased a piece by his younger daughter, who was ten at the time, plus extra artworks she created for Toilet‑bound Hanako‑kun.
Yusuke Murata’s fame primarily stems from his illustrations for One Punch Man and Eyeshield 21 (for which he recently produced an animated promo), alongside numerous other projects in the field.
One Punch Man series originates from ONE’s webcomic, re‑written by ONE and drawn by Yusuke Murata. It appears in Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump magazine and is released in English by VIZ Media. At present, the anime is working on the second half of its third season.
