Anime Corner boasts millions of followers across its social channels. If you’re used to seeing our weekly rankings on X, Instagram, or Reddit, you’re likely familiar with only one slice of that community.
It can be misleading to gauge our overall size based on a single account you follow. Followers, chart reactions, and poll participation are distinct metrics. Focusing on one doesn’t give you a complete picture of the others.
We’ve compiled answers to the most common questions we receive about our audience, our rankings, and the voting review process that occurs before results are published.
Anime Corner reaches millions of followers
Single social accounts don’t capture the full Anime Corner community. We started in 2012 and now have readers following multiple accounts on Facebook, X, and Instagram. The primary Anime Corner and Anime Corner News Facebook pages each exceed one million followers.
Our broader network also features Seiyuu Corner, which highlights voice actors. It holds roughly 400,000 Facebook followers, 100,000 X followers, and 141,000 Instagram followers. These figures are also approximate as of October 2026. Seiyuu Corner and the other Corner pages operate independently from the AC and AC News accounts mentioned earlier.
Many followers engage with news, interviews, and discussions but do not participate in polls. That’s why we maintain a distinction between social reach and poll participation.
Understanding Poll Participation
Accurately comparing poll participation across anime titles relies on consistent metrics and comparable data. Follower numbers, social media engagement, and individual vote totals don’t always indicate actual poll participation levels.
Anime Corner releases weekly participation figures alongside each result set, enabling readers to assess participation levels, view the complete rankings, and access audience insights when available.
When comparing polls, it’s important to understand what each figure represents:
- Ballots: A single ballot counts as one entry in a specific poll and can include multiple anime choices.
- Weekly participation: These numbers indicate how many people took part in a given weekly poll. Summing them does not equate to unique voters across an entire season.
- Anime-specific results: The level of support for a particular title isn’t equivalent to total poll participation. Weekly support, seasonal selections, and final weighted scores each capture distinct aspects of performance.
Effective comparisons rely on using equivalent participation metrics across similar time frames, with transparent definitions of what is being measured.
If comparable figures aren’t available, overall participation differences can’t be reliably inferred from publicly visible engagement metrics alone.
Sharing participation data assists readers in interpreting outcomes, grasping the methodology, and conducting evidence-driven comparisons across platforms.
Our rankings have received industry recognition
Anime Corner’s community rankings have consistently been cited in official anime communications over the years. For instance, the official Japanese account for The Dangers in My Heart referenced our Winter 2024 results in two separate posts, and DAN DA DAN mentioned our Fall 2024 results in a video at around the 0:48 mark.
We regularly feature interviews with industry professionals. Readers who discover us through the weekly charts can locate these conversations on our site, alongside our news and feature articles.
An IMDb event listing doesn’t validate a poll’s voting integrity. IMDb provides event eligibility guidelines that note some current listings don’t meet those standards and apologize for the resulting inconsistency.
These guidelines do not position an event listing as a ballot audit or a guarantee against spam. To grasp how a poll determines winners and reviews votes, readers should look at its methodology, published results, and moderation processes.
There is more to explore than a top ten chart
The social media chart is only the starting point. Our seasonal poll records date back to Summer 2020, and the revamped Anime Corner Polls platform offers readers additional ways to examine published results:
- Weekly participation figures, released in tandem with the results.
- Complete rankings and option percentages, covering all entries beyond the top ten.
- Audience insights where available, encompassing recorded country data, age groups, and gender responses.
- Weekly performance history, illustrating rank and vote‑share fluctuations across a season.
- Comparisons between titles, based on the published weekly results.
You can track a show via its weekly performance page or use the comparison tool to examine multiple titles side by side. This approach simplifies observing how support evolved throughout the season, avoiding reliance on a solitary chart.
Audience insights reflect the data available for each poll. Gaps in responses and constraints on location recording mean they can’t encompass every anime viewer.
Who decides the results
Staff preferences, sponsorships, advertising, and industry connections have no impact on poll outcomes. Voting occurs exclusively on our polls platform. Likes, shares, and comments on a ranking post do not determine the winner.
Our team administers the polls, monitors voting activity, and releases results based on the specific poll’s calculation. Voting insights are limited to a small group, with most details shared internally toward the poll’s conclusion.
Participants may favor action, romance, fantasy, or specific series. This differs from staff altering rankings to promote certain entries. A result that diverges from another community’s favorites alone does not prove manipulation. These polls reflect community preferences, not scientific surveys of all anime viewers.
How Anime of the Season is calculated
The final Anime of the Season ranking merges 45% of weekly results with 55% from the seasonal voting round. It is not derived solely from the final poll’s outcome.
We typically conduct weekly polls for 12 weeks, though some titles appear in fewer installments. For example, Re:ZERO Season 4 featured in our Summer 2026 rankings from Week 6 through Week 12. Its weekly contribution is calculated from those seven polls, maintaining the standard 45% weighting applied to other eligible titles. It does not receive a reduced weekly share merely because it missed the initial weeks.
The same principle holds for all titles. A series that runs its course during the season does not automatically gain additional weight compared to a title with fewer eligible weeks.
Summing weekly totals would increase a title’s opportunity to gather support if it appears more frequently. Our method factors in eligible weeks. Assigning extra weight to a specific poll would also amplify that week’s impact. These decisions influence the final ranking, underscoring the need for transparency when comparing outcomes.
The seasonal voting round contributes the remaining 55%, allowing participants to select favorites after observing more of the season. Side categories constitute independent polls and are not subject to the primary AOTS weekly and seasonal weighting.
How voting is reviewed before publication
Following the Summer 2026 Anime of the Season announcement, we will release our inaugural comprehensive public spam report. The practice of reviewing votes and eliminating spam has been ongoing. Given the volume of activity we tackled this season, we aim to disclose more of that effort to readers, detailing where invalid selections were most prevalent.
Ballots that are invalidated during the review are omitted from the published results. The forthcoming report will outline what was discarded and provide readers with additional context regarding the review process that informs the rankings.
Our polling platform is developed and overseen internally. Automated safeguards, blocks, and duplicate detection operate in conjunction with community oversight and manual scrutiny. We examine repeated voting and systematic campaign behaviors, even when activity occurs across different IP addresses. An IP address serves as one element of this assessment; we do not assume all users on a shared network are identical individuals.
In Summer 2026, we adopted a more rigorous stance regarding the campaign signatures we detected and voided ballots tied to those patterns. A final manual verification occurs prior to publication. The top 10 positions receive especially close examination, and manual analysis is frequently applied to other rankings as well.
A reduced published total for a title alone does not conclusively demonstrate that a greater number of bots were eliminated. Voting regulations, participation levels, timing, and scoring mechanisms can also influence the outcome. Assertions regarding spam filtering require substantiation of the review process, not merely an assumption based on the magnitude of a total.
Invalidation rates by themselves are insufficient to determine which poll manages abuse more effectively. Detection and reporting methodologies may vary, and certain attempts are prevented before a ballot is logged. The forthcoming report will document recorded invalidations. It will not account for all attempts or reveal the identities of ballot submitters.
No public voting system can guarantee flawless detection. We will continue to refine our verification procedures and analyze emerging patterns. Additionally, we aim to disclose insights that readers can independently verify, while maintaining transparency about the limitations of the recorded data.
