Thecuy.com – SMA Taruna Nusantara (SMATN), commonly referred to as SMA Tarnus, is an integrated high school located in Magelang, Central Java. It is administered by the Lembaga Perguruan Taman Taruna Nusantara (LPTTN) under the supervision of the Yayasan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Pertahanan (YPSDP). The concept for its establishment was introduced by the then Minister of Defense and Security, Jenderal TNI LB Moerdani, on May 20, 1985, at the Pendopo Agung Taman Siswa in Yogyakarta. This idea was subsequently formalized through an agreement between the TNI and Taman Siswa, resulting in the formation of LPTTN. The school was officially inaugurated by ABRI Commander Jenderal Try Sutrisno on July 14, 1990, on an 18.5‑hectare plot belonging to the Military Academy. The campus includes academic facilities, student dormitories, and housing for staff. For its first six years, SMA Taruna Nusantara admitted only male students. In 1996, LPTTN began accepting its first female cohort and expanded the campus area to 23 hectares. SMA Taruna Nusantara is widely recognized for its semi‑military culture that emphasizes strict discipline, character building, and leadership skills, while also maintaining a strong focus on academic excellence.
Although the curriculum used is not a military one but rather the national curriculum, graduates are not required to pursue a military career. All students reside in dormitories and participate in physical and mental training programs as part of their daily development. The admission process is rigorous, encompassing two stages of academic testing, psychological assessments, and physical health examinations. The school’s track record of alumni success is a major attraction: the institution reports that 100 percent of its graduates advance to higher education, including universities, TNI/Polri academies, civil service schools, and foreign universities.

Eligibility Requirements :
- Indonesian citizen (WNI).
- Minimum age 23 years and maximum 40 years.
- Hold a Police Record Certificate (SKCK).
- Not involved in the misuse of narcotics, psychotropic substances, or other addictive substances (NAPZA).
- Hold a minimum Bachelor’s degree (S1) in a field related to the subject being applied for.
- Minimum cumulative GPA (IPK):
- 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) for graduates of study programs and institutions with Excellent/A accreditation.
- 3.25 (on a 4.00 scale) for graduates of study programs and/or institutions with Very Good/B accreditation.
