CIAMIS, Thecuy.com – A warehouse storing used items in Dusun Ciherang, RT 001/RW 001, Ciherang Village, Banjarsari District, went up in flames on Saturday (22/8/2026) early morning. The blaze was spotted by passersby around 04.30 WIB, prompting a report to the fire department.

Ali Sadikin, Kasubag of the Ciamis UPTD Damkar, said the Banjarsari WMK post received news of a fire in an abandoned warehouse at 05.07 WIB. Responders rushed to the location carrying a single fire engine.

The operation involved three personnel from the Banjarsari WMK station using a single Z 8159 T pump unit. They arrived at the scene at roughly 05.11 WIB, and the extinguishment and cooling phase concluded near 06.15 WIB,” he told Radar on Sunday (23/8/2026).

Pasundan Muaythai Academy Tasikmalaya’s nine athletes took home nine medals from the national championship held in Bekasi. In a show of support for the Blue Sky initiative, the Tasikmalaya Regency Democratic Party cleaned roads and planted dozens of trees.

Firefighters proceeded with cooling operations to confirm that no residual hotspots remained that could spark a secondary blaze. The response continued with observation, data collection, and community education. “The cause is still thought to stem from leftover waste burning,” he said.

The destroyed warehouse was a permanent structure owned by Nur Homsin (46), a resident of Dusun Cangkring, RT 006/RW 002, Ratawangi Village, Banjarsari District. The total size was roughly 12 × 12 meters, with the burned portion estimated at about 8 × 8 meters.

The incident resulted in no fatalities or injuries. Meanwhile, material losses from the fire are roughly estimated at Rp10 million,” he said.

The firefighting effort drew on various parties, including a Ciamis Regency DPRD member, Banjarsari Police, Banjarsari Military Post, TAGANA, Ciamis Southern Volunteers (RCS), Ciherang Village authorities, Banjarsari Sub‑district government, and local residents.

Ali advised the community not to disregard leftover ash from waste burning. Even if a flame appears to be out, it may not be completely safe and could reignite near combustible materials.

Because unextinguished combustion residues can serve as a fire source, especially near flammable items,” he explained. (riz)
