The series Berserk of Gluttony (originally titled Boushoku no Berserk: Ore Dake Level to Iu Gainen o Toppa Sur) was penned by Ichika Isshiki. It debuted as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro and is now published by Micro Magazine’s GC Novels and GCN Bunko imprint, illustrated by fame. A manga adaptation exists, drawn by Daisuke Takino, and total printings have topped 2.2 million copies.
Official plot summary:
In a realm where skill dominates everything, a youth called Fate is shunned for his useless ability called “Gluttony,” which only makes him hungry. Forced to eke out a life at society’s fringes, he endures abuse and menial labor under the elite Brellick family, a clan of high‑ranking Holy Knights. The sole kindness he knows comes from Roxy Heart, a fellow Holy Knight who treats him with respect.
When Fate unwittingly kills a castle intruder while escorting Roxy, his Gluttony awakens, allowing him to absorb the foe’s powers. This ability lets him strip skills and attributes from those he slays. Empowered, he meets Greed, a sentient blade bearing the same‑named sin. Together they plunge into a turbulent world of conflict.
Motivated to shield loved ones and overturn an unfair order, Fate devours enemies to harness their might. The journey of this once‑marginalized boy rapidly transforms his destiny.
