The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE – Yotsuba Succession Arc is now slated to hit U.S. and Canadian theaters. The release, handled by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment, will be a limited three‑day run on November 1, 3 and 4, 2026, offering both a Japanese‑audio version with English subtitles and an English dub.
This installment marks the second movie in the The Irregular at Magic High School series, picking up the narrative following Season 3 of the television anime that concluded in 2024. Directed by Jimmy Stone at Eight Bit studio, the adaptation draws from Tsutomu Sato’s source light novels. Its Japanese premiere triggered the green‑light for a second part of the anime.
Yotsuba Succession Arc is set in 2096 during the winter of Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba’s second year at Magic High School. The siblings receive an invitation to the Yotsuba Clan’s New Year’s banquet, where the appointment of the next clan leader will be revealed.
Miyuki must confront the prospect of being chosen as the Yotsuba Clan’s heir, a role that would oblige her to wed and could reshape her bond with Tatsuya. Simultaneously, assuming leadership might empower her to alter Tatsuya’s designation as a Guardian.
The Irregular at Magic High School is Tsutomu Sato’s novel franchise, initially posted online in 2008 and later picked up by Dengeki Bunko in 2011. Spanning the 2090s, the story centers on siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba at First High School, where Miyuki shines academically while Tatsuya is regarded as untalented—yet he secretly wields extraordinary powers and is linked to the influential Yotsuba clan.
From its 2014 anime debut, the property has grown into a sprawling franchise encompassing manga adaptations, additional seasons, and theatrical releases. Works such as Magian Company and the spin‑off Maidens of Cygnus have extended the narrative beyond the academy, amassing over 22 million copies sold globally. The latest televised chapter, Season 3, ran from April through June 2024.
