The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 WORLD CUP Final Member Selection Match anime has unveiled a fresh key visual and promotional trailer ahead of its September 30 premiere in Japan. Four additional voice actors have been disclosed, each portraying members of Spain’s U‑17 squad. M.S.C oversees the animation production, with Yoshinobu Tokumoto serving as director.
The trailer showcases the internal battles that will decide which Japanese athletes secure spots on the roster for the U-17 World Cup final against Spain. The freshly introduced Spanish players and the talent behind them are:
- Tasuku Hatanaka voicing Julion Roman
- Reiji Kawashima voicing Mares de Colón
- Ryuho Nagaoka voicing Silva Serra Bambieri
- Megumi Han voicing Seda
The fresh illustration also displays Ryoma Echizen together with the Japan national squad members.
The Prince of Tennis is a Japanese manga created by Takeshi Konomi, originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump from July 1999 through March 2008. Its sequel, titled The New Prince of Tennis or The Prince of Tennis II, started in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine in 2009 and continues to run today.
An anime series produced by Trans Arts spanned 178 episodes, airing from October 2001 to March 2005. Afterwards, 26 OVA installments were created by Trans Arts and Production I.G., running from March 2006 through January 2009.
A 13‑episode TV adaptation of The Prince of Tennis II was broadcast from January to March 2012. The fresh installment, The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup, aired between July and September 2022, with World Cup Semifinal continuing the story. The forthcoming series will focus on Japan’s qualifying contests before the U-17 World Cup final against Spain, matching national team players against each other as they vie for the final roster spots.
Crunchyroll is broadcasting The Prince of Tennis II U-17 World Cup, presenting the plot: After being expelled from Japan’s top U-17 training camp for rule violations, the prodigious tennis player Ryoma Echizen feels crushed. Luck intervenes when he gets a chance to try out for the U.S. squad. Facing seasoned veterans won’t be simple, and acceptance would mean battling former teammates. Can he rally his new teammates to secure triumph?
