TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Sekelompok youths, thought to be motorcycle gang members, have once again unsettled residents of Tasikmalaya City.
This time, the incident took place in the Kawalu sub-district early Saturday morning (15/8/2026).
A convoy, thought to consist of six motorcycles, reportedly known as waega, was seen riding by while brandishing sharp weapons, specifically machetes.
The troubling behaviour prompted locals to chase after the group.
Police patrol car transformed into a dedicated clean‑water transport vehicle in Tasikmalaya; drought dries up wells, turning the City Police Sampta’s chief residence into a hoped‑for water source for locals.
Field reports indicate the chase moved from the Sambong area toward Kawalu.
Out of roughly six motorcycles, about five managed to escape.
One bike carrying two riders, however, crashed solo on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan near the Sengkol turn‑off in Kawalu.
The vehicle is thought to have lost control and slammed into a wall with considerable force.
As a result, one individual reportedly died from severe head injuries.
A second person suffered a broken leg and was taken into custody.
Local resident Jatnika (32) confirmed that the incident did occur.
“Yes, it truly happened,” Jatnika said.
According to field reports, the two riders hailed from the Singaparna‑Padakembang area.
Police officers and ambulance crews arrived at the scene to secure the area and transport the injured.

The incident once again highlights a common street problem: nighttime, meant for rest, turns into a showdown of courage.
Unlike before, this time the situation escalated beyond mere fear among residents and resulted in a fatality.
At the time of publication, police had examined the crime scene and were conducting an investigation.
The victims’ identities, as well as whether the group were indeed motorcycle gang members and involved in carrying sharp weapons as reported by locals, remain under police investigation. (rezza rizaldi)
