The Independence Day ceremony is not limited to showcasing students from the Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibra). During this event, a special student choir will also accompany each ceremonial process.
The 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence in Tasikmalaya will feature something distinct. For the first time, a combined choir from several high schools in Tasikmalaya is being prepared to perform during the independence celebration events.
The choir was conceived by the High School Arts and Culture Subject Teachers’ Forum (MGMP) of Tasikmalaya. This group serves as a platform for students with vocal talent and ability to perform in official government events and national holidays.

Choir director Tendi said that preparations have been carried out involving representatives from high schools throughout Tasikmalaya city. At least 11 schools participated in the formation and selection process of choir members.
According to him, each school sent students deemed to have vocal abilities to join joint practice sessions. Currently, preparations are ongoing to ensure the performance during the 81st RI Independence Day proceeds optimally.
“This group was only established this year. We are trying to gather students from high schools in Tasikmalaya city who have vocal potential to be trained and developed,” he said.
In the future, the group is expected not only to perform during the RI Independence Day celebration but also to be involved in various official activities of Tasikmalaya city and other national holiday celebrations.
In addition to serving as a platform for performances, the presence of this combined choir is expected to become a means of coaching for students with artistic talent, especially in the field of vocals.
A member of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD from the PDI Perjuangan faction, Kepeler Sianturi, appreciated the formation of the combined choir.
He said the presence of a choir involving students from 11 high schools is a positive step and part of a new history in art coaching among students.
