Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun anime unveiled its debut trailer and a fresh illustration, plus an April 2027 premiere. The series was first announced in April 2025.
Studio Fugaku handles the animation, led by director Masashi Abe, series composition by Kazuharu Sato, character design by Ryoji Nakamori, and music from Hayato Matsuo. The principal voice actors are:
- Gen Sato plays Miyamoto Musashi
- Kenichiro Matsuda voices Honda Tadakatsu
- Kenyu Horiuchi portrays Oda Nobunaga

Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun (Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyo Bugeisha Ketteisen) is a manga penned by Yosuke Nakamaru and drawn by Kyotaro Azuma. It launched in January 2021 in Young Magazine the 3rd, a Kodansha publication. After that magazine ended, the series relocated to Monthly Young Magazine in May of the same year. Kodansha offers this synopsis:
This isn’t the history we know. Set in 1600, ten years after Oda Nobunaga unified Japan, he declares that he will pass power to the person who brings him the greatest warrior. Defeated generals field their strongest fighters to claim the throne! The opening duel pits the unmatched spear champion Honda Tadakatsu (backed by Tokugawa Ieyasu) against the rising prodigy Miyamoto Musashi (supported by Chosokabe Motochika)!!
