Hiro Mashima’s FAIRY TAIL is now extending its 20th‑year festivities by showcasing fresh character posters at four Japanese train stations.
A series of ten distinct character posters will be exhibited at JR Isesaki, JR Kumagaya, JR Shizuoka, and JR Gifu stations from August 10 through August 16, with five designs placed at each location.
The chosen venues tie into a summer motif linked to the lead character Natsu Dragneel, whose name means “summer” in Japanese. All four locales have seen August temperatures climb above 40 °C.
The promotional push coincides with the manga’s two‑decade milestone of serialization, which started in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine back in 2006. As part of the commemoration, Mashima is concurrently releasing the short‑form series FAIRY TAIL RE:FANTASIA in the same magazine.
Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga created by Hiro Mashima, marking his third major series following Rave Master and Edens Zero. It ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2006 through July 2017 and was collected into 63 volumes. Kodansha USA secured the English rights, and the work can be accessed digitally via K MANGA. The plot summary reads:
A young witch named Lucy dreams of joining Fairy Tail, an organization of the most powerful magic users. Instead, she is captured by a ruthless pirate crew commanded by a cunning sorcerer. Her sole chance for rescue lies with Natsu, a quirky boy she encounters on her journey. Natsu is far from the usual hero—he suffers from motion sickness, hogs food, and his closest companion is a talking cat. With allies like these, is Lucy better off staying with her foes?
The series spawned a 328‑episode television show, plus a host of spin‑offs, specials, and films. Its continuation, FAIRY TAIL: 100 YEARS QUEST, also received an anime adaptation that ran for 25 episodes between July 2024 and January 2025. Volume 24 of the main manga hit shelves on August 7.
