TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The Tasikmalaya City Government has proposed parking digitalization, a plan backed by the Tasikmalaya City DPRD. This proposal was formalized in a cooperation contract between the Department of Transportation (Dishub) and a vendor partner.
Nevertheless, the reality is that parking digitalization remains just a fantasy. After Dishub’s failed QRIS implementation, the vendor is still unprepared to shift to a digital management system.
Parking vendor representative, Nanang Nurjamil, stressed that digitalization is not merely about swapping cash for non-cash payments. He said that human resource readiness, parking location characteristics, and public behavior need to be studied before the policy is rolled out widely.

“It’s not yet the right time. We need to train the parking attendants first. The QRIS program that was once touted also turned out not to work,” he told Radar on Wednesday (5/8/2026).
Nanang believes the previous trial’s failure proves that digitalization cannot rely solely on technology. Many parking attendants lack smartphones and the ability to operate digital payment systems.
On the other hand, the public still prefers quick transactions over having to open a payment app each time they park.
“Don’t force a single method for all areas. In other cities, there are several payment methods adapted to local conditions,” he said.
He cited Semarang and Malang cities, which implement more than one parking payment system tailored to regional characteristics. Therefore, the Tasikmalaya City Government is urged to conduct a comprehensive study before establishing a digitalization policy.
In his view, each area has different parking density levels, attendant characteristics, and traffic patterns, so they cannot be treated with the same policy.
Nanang also thinks there is a need to map areas that remain under UPTD management and those that can be cooperated with third parties. He said that some locations, such as the HZ Mustofa, Dadaha, and Cikurubuk areas, have different variables and thus require different management patterns.

“There must be a holistic and comprehensive study. Digitalization cannot be generalized for all areas,” he stressed.
He said he will bring the issue up during an audiensi meeting with the Tasikmalaya City Government.
