PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com—The government has swiftly responded to public concerns about a coastal area in Madasari that some claim as private property. Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami has announced she will investigate the certificate’s origins at the National Land Agency (BPN).
Regent Citra Pitriyami, accompanied by Forkopimda officials, visited the disputed area. There, an iron sign indicates that the land belongs to four named individuals.
The claim is based on a certificate of ownership issued by BPN. The sign also warns that entry and construction are prohibited without the landowner’s permission.

Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami stated that her team cannot yet draw conclusions about the matter but plans to verify the land ownership’s validity and origin with the Pangandaran BPN office. “I want to check when this certificate was issued,” she said in a video posted on her TikTok account on Monday (3/8/2026)
She emphasized the need for complete and clear information about the issue, requiring further explanation from relevant agencies. Citra clarified that the district government has no authority to issue certificates, stating, “It’s not the regent’s responsibility.”
Since the certificate issuance process involves a letter from the village, her team will also seek clarification from the village government to understand why there is a certificate for this coastal area.
However, Citra acknowledged the unusual nature of a private individual claiming ownership of a coastal or marine area, noting that, according to the law, such areas cannot be privately owned. (Rangga Jatnika)
