Creator of My Hero Academia, Kohei Horikoshi, is about to come back to Weekly Shonen Jump with a fresh single‑chapter manga called Don’t Laugh, Shijima-san (Warawanaide yo Shijima-san). This one‑shot will appear in the combined Issue #37/38 of the magazine, hitting Japanese stores on August 10.
The 61‑page short will include a full‑color center spread and is billed as a “boy meets girl horror” tale. Shueisha has already posted a color illustration from the new work before its release.
This newest project marks Horikoshi’s first appearance in Weekly Shonen Jump since My Hero Academia ended in August 2024. The superhero series spanned a decade after its 2014 debut, became a flagship title for the magazine with over 100 million copies sold globally, and spawned numerous anime seasons, movies, spin‑offs, and games. Additionally, a brief anime centred on Eri will debut on streaming services on August 2.
The same issue of Weekly Shonen Jump will also honour the 50th anniversary of Osamu Akimoto’s KochiKame: Tokyo Beat Cops. For the celebration, horror author Settsu—recognized for titles such as About a Certain Place in the Kinki Region and The Mouth Survey—will edit a special KochiKame feature. The issue will additionally contain a bonus illustration card created by Akimoto.
