Thecuy.com, Pangkalpinang — The Police Chief of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Inspector General Viktor T. Sihombing, has instructed his staff to monitor the distribution of subsidized fuel at public filling stations after long queues appeared at several stations in the region. The monitoring aims to ensure that subsidized fuel reaches the intended beneficiaries and prevents misuse.

Langkah Pengawasan dan Koordinasi

Viktor said his office had convened a meeting with Pertamina and representatives of filling stations to anticipate fuel distribution issues. “We have identified the current problems and the solutions that will be presented at tomorrow’s joint meeting with the local government,” he said on Wednesday (15/7/2026). He emphasized that the distribution of subsidized fuel must be in line with its intended purpose, and for this his office is cooperating with Pertamina, filling stations, and the local government.

The Police Chief also urged the public not to misuse subsidized fuel. “Clearly, traffic must remain smooth and not congested, and the misuse of subsidized fuel must be anticipated. We will also take measures, including law enforcement,” he stated.

Penindakan Tegas Tanpa Memihak Siapa Pun

Viktor stressed that his office would not favor anyone if a violation related to the distribution of subsidized fuel was found, including if there was involvement of members of the Indonesian National Police. “Everyone has the opportunity to commit a violation. We will instruct the district police chiefs to conduct raids, monitoring, enforcement, law enforcement, and if necessary, seize evidence from those who have committed misuse,” he said.

Earlier, the Sales Area Manager of Pertamina Patraniaga for the Bangka Belitung region, Satriyo Wibowo Wicaksono, said that the long queues were caused by repeated refueling, the use of the same or duplicate QR codes, and the use of fake license plate numbers. “Many vehicles moved from one filling station to another to refuel repeatedly. The QR codes suspected of violations have been blocked; currently, about 500 vehicles have been blocked,” he said during a meeting with the Babel DPRD on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

Nevertheless, Pertamina assured that fuel stocks at the terminal are safe for the next seven days. “For the residents of Bangka Belitung, the fuel stocks at our terminal are actually safe, so there is no problem with distribution as long as the public does not make excessive purchases,” said Satriyo.

Pemerintah Daerah Minta Masyarakat Tidak Panik

The Provincial Government of the Bangka Belitung Islands, through Acting Regional Secretary Fery Aprianto, asked the public to remain calm and not panic in response to rumors of fuel shortages. Based on a preliminary report from Pertamina, the fuel supply in the Bangka Belitung area is still normal. “We hope the public does not panic about this,” said Fery on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

The Acting Secretary also appealed to the public not to engage in panic buying, which would trigger long queues at filling stations. “We hope the public can use or purchase fuel normally as usual,” he said.
