Naruto is the manga created by Masashi Kishimoto. The series began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 1999, running for 15 years until November 2014 and concluding with a total of 72 volumes. Studio Pierrot adapted the manga into an anime, which premiered in October 2002 and spanned 220 episodes. This was followed by the sequel anime titled Naruto Shippuden, which ran for 500 episodes.
In addition, the manga sequel Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was originally written by Ukyo Kodachi, with Masashi Kishimoto later taking over the storyline and Mikio Ikimoto handling the art. The series launched in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2016 but moved to V Jump in 2019.
Part 2 of the manga, titled Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, launched in August 2023. The anime adaptation Boruto: Naruto Next Generations premiered in April 2017 and concluded in March 2023. A four-episode special was originally set to air consecutively for four weeks beginning September 3, 2023, but has been postponed to “enhance quality.”
A new trading card game, NARUTO Card Game TCG, has also just been announced for a 2027 release, along with a dialogue-free live-action showcase set to take place at Kyoto’s Minamiza Theatre from February through June 2027.
