BANANA FISH will begin streaming on Netflix in the United States on August 12, featuring exclusive new English and French dubs.
Netflix has also announced the main voice actors for both languages. In English, Brandon McInnis voices Ash Lynx, while Jonathan Tanigaki plays Eiji Okumura. For the French dub, Sébastien Baulain takes on the role of Ash, and Grégory Laisné portrays Eiji.
BANANA FISH, based on the manga by Akimi Yoshida, was animated by MAPPA and originally aired in 2018. The 24‑episode series follows Ash Lynx, a gang leader, as he investigates the mystery behind the phrase “Banana Fish” after meeting Japanese photographer’s assistant Eiji Okumura. Their encounter draws them into a dangerous conspiracy involving organized crime and government secrets.
The Netflix release follows a controversy related to the anime’s earlier streaming. In late 2025, Amazon Prime Video briefly introduced AI‑generated English and Spanish dubs for BANANA FISH, which drew criticism from fans and voice actors over the use of artificial intelligence. Amazon later removed the AI English dub following the backlash.
