Shangri‑La Frontier Season 3 just dropped its first teaser, hinting at the upcoming action of Galaxia Heroes: Chaos ahead of the January 2027 premiere. Studio C2C will once again helm the animation, following the series’ announcement that paired the trailer with the franchise’s very first game adaptation slated for 2026, shortly after the second season’s finale.
The anime’s creative core returns: Toshiyuki Kubooka directs again, Kurashima Ayumi designs characters and serves as chief animation director, while Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handles series composition. The soundtrack is crafted by the trio Hirokawa Keiichi, Takada Ryuichi, and Takahashi Kuniyuki.
Season 2 expanded the world with several major arcs. The Nephilim Hollow Arc featured Rie Takahashi as Rust and Kaito Ishikawa as Mordo. The Abyss City Arc introduced Aki Kanada as Stude and Toru Sakurai as Araba. The GGC Arc brought Yumi Uchiyama as Megumi Natsume and Minami Takahashi as Silvia Goldberg into the mix.
The main voice cast remains:
- Yuma Uchida as Sunraku / Rakuro Hizutome
- Azumi Waki as Psyger‑0 / Rei Saiga
- Yoko Hikasa as Arthur Pencilgon / Towa Amane
- Makoto Koichi as Oicazzo / Kei Uomi
- Rina Hidaka as Emul
- Akio Otsuka as Vysache
The origin story stretches back to the web novel penned by Katarina, which Ryosuke Fuji illustrates in the manga. Since May 2017 the novel has been serialized on Shosetsuka ni Naro, while the manga appears in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and is released in English by Kodansha USA.
At its heart, the series follows Rakuro Hizutome, a gamer who goes by the alias Sunraku. He revels in beating “crappy” titles despite their bugs, until he stumbles upon the legendary game Shangri‑La Frontier. The game opens his eyes to new possibilities, reconnects him with veteran players, and sets him on a quest to explore its deep mechanics and defeat its toughest foes.
