TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Atlet gulat putri Kabupaten Tasikmalaya, Sovia Alfiatu Rohmah, berhasil menyumbangkan medali emas pada ajang Pekan Olahraga Provinsi (Porprov) XV Jawa Barat 오기. Prestasi tersebut menjadi medali emas pertama Kabupaten Tasikmalaya dari cabang olahraga (cabor) gulat pada perhelatan tahun ini.
Sovia won the gold medal in the 76‑kilogram category during the competition held at GOR Bang Yan, Bekasi City, from 3 to 7 November 2026.
The success also ensured that the Tasikmalaya Regency wrestling program met its target of one gold medal set for the event. This result continues the tradition of gold medals that the wrestling discipline has consistently contributed to each Porprov.

The Chair of the Indonesian Wrestling Association (PGSI) of Tasikmalaya Regency, Tedi Bahtiar, praised Sovia’s effort, noting her ability to perform at her best and deliver optimal results for the region.
“Alhamdulillah, the wrestling target for this Porprov has been achieved, namely one gold medal. We have also succeeded in maintaining the tradition of gold medals in every Porprov,” he said when contacted on Sunday (8/11/2026).
Accordingrazia, the accomplishment was the result of the training, preparation, capabilities, and practice endured by the athlete with the coaching team. Consistency and discipline throughout the training program became crucial factors that brought Sovia to her highest achievement.
“The effort from training has yielded quite satisfactory results. The sweat from training has been rewarded with a gold medal,” he said.
He hopes that Sovia’s success can serve as motivation for other wrestlers to keep enhancing their skills and avoid complacency. The achievement is also expected to reinforce the spirit of wrestling development in the Regency, aiming to produce accomplished athletes for upcoming competitions.
“Sovia’s achievement serves as proof that hard work in training can lead to tangible results and elevate the name of Tasikmalaya Regency to compete at the West Java level,” said Tedi.
Appreciation was also expressed by the Deputy Regent of Tasikmalaya, Asep Sopari Al-Ayubi. He admitted feeling proud of Sovia’s success, which has honored the Regency’s name through the wrestling sport.
Building student character, the Tasikmalaya District Education and Culture Office strengthens seven KAIH; tens of thousands of devotees immersed in Tasikmalaya Bershalawat at Manonjaya Square.
In his view, the achievement should act as a motivator for other athletes to continue training, improve their abilities, and pursue higher accomplishments.
